Career Overview
- Joined CSU faculty in fall 2016
- Assistant Professor at University of Hawaii at Manoa from 2012-16
- Research Assistant Professor at Naval Postgraduate School from 2010-12
- Research Associate at Naval Postgraduate School from 2007-10
- Associate Scientist at National Center for Atmospheric Research from 2001-11
Teaching Interests
- Atmospheric radiation
- Measurement systems and theory
- Radar meteorology
- Tropical cyclones
Research Interests
My primary interests are in tropical, mesoscale, and radar meteorology. A central focus of my research is studying the mesoscale structure and intensification of tropical cyclones throughout their life-cycle from genesis to extratropical transition. This research is accomplished through the collection and analysis of research quality observations from aircraft and Doppler radars, in conjunction with high-resolution numerical modeling. A significant component of my research effort is also aimed at improving mesoscale and radar analysis techniques and open source software tools.
