White House recognizes Professor Elizabeth Barnes with government’s highest early-career honor
President Joe Biden awarded Colorado State University Professor Elizabeth Barnes with the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers – the U.S. government’s highest honor for outstanding early-career scientists and engineers.
Barnes, who is a faculty member in the Department of Atmospheric Science, applies the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and data science tools to understand and predict Earth’s climate variability and change.
She is one of 400 scientists recognized by one of 14 federal agencies for the Presidential honor. She was nominated by the U.S. National Science Foundation.
