Career Overview

Christine Chiu is a professor at the Department of Atmospheric Science, Colorado State University. Prior to joining CSU in October 2017, she was an associate professor at the Department of Meteorology, University of Reading, United Kingdom (2010-17), a research assistant professor at the University of Maryland–Baltimore County, and an associated scientist at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (2003-2010).

Research Interests

Christine Chiu’s research interests lie in remote sensing, radiative transfer, and cloud-aerosol-precipitation-radiation interactions. Her work includes developing novel methods for observing clouds and precipitation from active and passive measurements; investigating cloud properties and their radiative impact in a fully 3D condition; quantifying aerosol impacts on precipitation, and improving representativeness of cloud-aerosol-precipitation-radiation processes in models using remote sensing observations.
