Career Overview
Professor Vonder Haar joined the CSU Department of Atmospheric Science faculty in 1970 after a post-doctoral appointment at the Space Science and Engineering Center at the University of Wisconsin.
He has served as Department Head (1974-84) and Founding Director of CIRA (1980-2008). He has enjoyed advising approximately 30 PhD and 70 MS graduates from the Department.

Professor Vonder Haar’s research interests include the global energy and water budgets, remote sensing via satellite, local area forecasting and geosciences. He also directs the DOD Center for Geosciences/Atmospheric Research at CSU – a multidisciplinary group of faculty, students and staff.
