AAAR Student Chapter

The American Association for Aerosol Research (AAAR) Student Chapter serves as venue for young scientists at CSU to meet other aerosol scientists, discuss ongoing research in a productive and relaxed manor, participate in education outreach activities, and much more. We have hosted the Young Scientist Symposium on Atmospheric Research since 2011, which annually brings young scientists from CSU, CU-Boulder, Denver University, University of Wyoming, NCAR and other institutes in Northern Colorado to present their ongoing research. Every other week we meet off campus to discuss peer-reviewed journal articles led by members of the group as part of our Journal Club Series. We also are active in educational outreach by volunteering during the Little Shop of Physics open houses at CSU and NCAR’s Super Science Saturdays. We have visited and toured many science-related facilities in Colorado, such as the CSU Engines Lab and the Storm Peak Laboratory. Finally, the group has adopted trails along the Poudre Valley Canyon to maintain during the summer months since 2010.

AMS Chapter – FORTCAST

AMS Local Chapter logo

FORTCAST provides an outlet for Colorado State University students to interact with their peers, professors and other members of academia interested in the study of the atmosphere, ocean and other parts of the climate system, as well as their impacts on society. Activities such as educational outreach events, journal clubs, seminars and colloquia give students opportunities to share and expand their knowledge within and outside the atmospheric sciences. In addition, these activities encourage students to establish professional relationships with others in related fields of study.

If you’d like more information, please visit our AMS FORTCAST website.

Atmospheric Science International Student and Scholar Association (ATSISSA)

The Atmospheric Science International Student and Scholar Association (ATSISSA) serves as a support network that helps incoming international students and scholars adjust to the new environment and aims to increase cultural diversity and cross-cultural communication in the department. The association was established in 2021. We offer services such as first-time pick-ups at Denver International Airport and information about living in Fort Collins. The association provides a platform for members to communicate and to help each other, and we plan to hold social events as virtual gatherings given the current situation. We welcome all international students and scholars to join us.

If you need any help or more information, feel free to reach out to our board members by email: csuatsissa@gmail.com.
